Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-04-28

1. Acceptance of these terms

By accessing or using ISBAR Handover Practice ("the Service", "this site"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. What the Service is

ISBAR Handover Practice is a free educational tool for nursing students. It uses artificial intelligence (specifically the Claude API by Anthropic) to:

  • Generate fictional clinical handover scenarios for practice
  • Evaluate written handovers against the ISBAR rubric and provide feedback

3. Educational use only — IMPORTANT

This Service is intended solely for educational practice.

  • All scenarios are entirely fictional. Names, MRNs, DOBs, observations and other clinical details are AI-generated and do not refer to real patients.
  • The feedback you receive is not professional clinical advice. It is a teaching aid, not an authoritative judgement on real patient care.
  • Do not use this Service for real clinical handovers. Real handovers must follow your hospital's policies and use real clinical judgement.
  • Do not enter real patient information — names, DOBs, MRNs, addresses, or any identifying details. Doing so may breach privacy laws including the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and your professional obligations.

4. AI-generated content disclaimer

Scenarios and feedback are generated by AI language models. AI can and does make mistakes. Output may include:

  • Clinical inaccuracies
  • Outdated medication dosages or guidelines
  • Australian terminology errors
  • Logically inconsistent details

Always cross-check clinical information against textbooks, your hospital's policies, and your educators. Do not rely on this Service as a sole source of clinical knowledge.

5. No warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we make no warranties of any kind, including (without limitation) warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, availability, or uninterrupted access. The Service may go offline at any time without notice.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator of this Service shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the Service — including but not limited to academic outcomes, clinical decisions made based on output, or loss of data.

Your use of the Service is at your own risk.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Attempt to bypass, exploit, or circumvent the daily usage limits or any security features
  • Submit content that is unlawful, harmful, or that infringes another person's rights
  • Submit real patient data or any personally identifying information about real people
  • Scrape, automate, or otherwise impose unreasonable load on the Service
  • Reverse engineer, copy, or redistribute the Service without permission

8. Intellectual property

The design, layout, code, and rubric structure of this Service are the property of the operator. AI-generated scenarios and feedback have no clear ownership under current law and may be freely referenced by users for personal study.

Handovers you write into the Service are not stored by us, but they are transmitted to Anthropic's API for evaluation — see the Privacy Policy for details.

9. Third-party services

This Service uses third-party providers:

  • Anthropic (Claude API) — processes your handover text. See anthropic.com/legal.
  • Vercel — hosts the Service.
  • Google AdSense (if enabled) — serves advertisements.

By using this Service you also agree to those providers' terms where applicable.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms at any time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the Service at any time, for any reason, without notice — including (but not limited to) abuse, legal requests, or operational reasons.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Australian Capital Territory, Australia. Any disputes arising from use of the Service will be subject to the jurisdiction of Australian courts.
